Now, let’s talk about the food – an intriguing blend of Western dishes with a bold Indian twist. The menu was full of surprises, introducing flavors I didn’t know I needed in my life. The portions were definitely enough for two.

Let’s start with the Lamb Marrow Pie – my absolute favorite. It’s hard to describe how tender and flavorful it was. The meat had a depth of flavor I’d never encountered before, which was expected since the lamb was marinated in rich Indian spices, and it’s been haunting my foodie dreams ever since. Encased in buttery, flaky pastry that practically melted in my mouth. The meat inside was so tender it just slid off the bone. Safe to say, this dish alone will bring me back.
Next up was the Malabar Mango Fish Curry, a first for me. Mango in curry? I was skeptical, but it worked. The gravy was rich, spicy, and unapologetically Indian, while the fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. The mango added a subtle sweetness that balanced the heat of the spices.

Since rice isn’t an option for me (thanks, allergies), I paired everything with their Tandoori Roti, freshly baked in a clay oven. Meanwhile, Amir happily tucked into his fluffy basmati rice.

The Saag Paneer Salad deserves a mention too. Fresh, crunchy greens sourced from Cameron Highlands paired beautifully with their homemade paneer. Paneer, or as I like to call it, the MVP of Indian cheese, is soft, milky, and endlessly versatile. It doesn’t melt like regular cheese, but that’s its charm, it holds its shape while soaking up all the spices and flavors it’s cooked with. Imagine a cheese that’s not just there for the garnish but also takes center stage in. In this salad, the paneer absorbed the goodness of the dressing perfectly while maintaining its chewy-yet-firm texture.

Honey Ice Cream
For dessert, we went with the Bee Hive, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. Picture this: honey ice cream with the creaminess of vanilla, paired with smooth bergamot curd that’s somewhere between lemon and grapefruit. Add in hazelnut cinnamon crumble for a bit of crunch, and you’ve got a masterpiece. The “beehive” name comes from the shell it’s served in – a creative nod to its design.
Time seemed to fly as we ate, soaking in the cozy atmosphere. Whether you’re there for an intimate meal or a gathering with friends, Luca is a place where great food and good vibes come together beautifully. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience.
