My Year of Beauty Shenanigans

Who says your 40s are for fading into the background? Not me! If anything, this year has been proof that life gets better as you age, like good cheese, or a fine bottle of sparkling sirap bandung!

One of the best part is making new friends.
Revlon Illuminance Serum Tint feels light on my skin.

2024 has been a whirlwind of beauty events and reviews that left me pinching myself. From testing Garnier’s Bright Complete Vitamin C Water Gel Moisturizer & Serum to walking into Eau Thermale Avène’s chic skincare workshop, I’ve felt like a kid in a candy store, except it’s all about glowy skincare and beauty products.

Making cute and fun content for C Code Cosmetic.

Revlon reminded me that bold lips are forever in style. Wardah made me fall in love with halal beauty that doesn’t skimp on quality. And let’s not forget the innovative Ccode, talk about sleek packaging and bold colours! L’Oréal not only brought the glam, as always, but also help wonders with my skin with their Glycolic Bright with Melasyl and made me feel like I could strut on a red carpet (even if it’s just in my living room with my son just rolling his eyes).

K-BEAUTY from SEOUL 2024

There’s something surreal about being in your 40s and being part of the beauty conversation. Most days, I’m juggling my son, work deadlines, and trying to remember if I left my iron on. But then these amazing brands tap me on the shoulder, and suddenly, I’m reminded: “Hey, you’ve still got it!”

Feeling like I belong in an industry where people assume you’ve expired post-35.

In my 40s, I’ve learned to celebrate every wrinkle, every laugh line, and every moment of self-care. These brands have given me more than beauty, they’ve given me confidence, joy, and a whole lot of gratitude.

Honestly, the best part isn’t just about the products (though my skin thanks them daily). It’s about being welcomed by an industry that often seems obsessed with youth. They’ve shown me that beauty is about confidence, kindness, and, yes, a killer serum or two.

So here’s to a year of beauty, gratitude, and remembering to moisturize before bed. To the beauty industry giants, local gems, and innovators who’ve included me in their world: thank you, for making me feel seen, celebrated, and downright fabulous. Here’s to celebrating beauty at every age – and maybe sneaking in another bold lipstick or serum (because why not?).
