We left Shah Alam at 7:30 AM on a regular Tuesday morning and reached Hobbitoon Village in Simpang Pulai by 10:00 AM. Despite the heavy weekday morning traffic, the 2.5-hour drive was otherwise smooth, making this Hobbitoon Village very accessible. Hobbitoon Village nestled on 50 acres within a sprawling 300-acre plantation, surrounded by lush vegetation.

The entrance fee is RM40 for adults and RM20 for children. The park also offers special rates for senior citizens. However, it’s best to have cash on hand as the internet connection here is poor, and even the complimentary Wi-Fi might not support card transactions. Understandable, considering its location deep in the hills.

Once inside, you’ll be greeted by the first smials or hobbit-holes (the home of the hobbits), a full-sized barrel cart/carriage, and a whimsical well. Although the park isn’t massive, the hilly landscape makes it essential to wear comfortable shoes – unless you’re like me and don’t mind strutting in heels! Or, you can always bring along both, switching when needed.

Exploring Hobbitoon Village can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours, depending on your pace. If you’re just strolling, an hour will suffice. However, if you’re like us and can’t resist inspecting every hobbit house, plant (that will be me!), and photo spot, you’ll need to set aside 2–3 hours to fully enjoy the experience.

The hobbit-holes here are adorable, and each one is designed differently. There are more than five of them, and while most are for taking pictures, one hobbit house lets you step inside, complete with a bed and a small kitchen! Honestly, I’m hoping they’ll build one that looks like Frodo Baggins’ house if they expand the park someday.

As you wander through the Shire-inspired park, you’ll enjoy beautifully maintained landscapes with lush greenery and shaded pathways. Most trails are wheelchair-friendly, making it accessible for everyone. Some hobbit house roofs are even climbable, so don’t miss the chance to snap adorable pictures up there – it’s practically a must!
Since the weather can be unpredictable (thanks to Malaysia’s weather), the ground might be wet if you’re planning to sit for pictures.. A tip I’d share is to bring a small mat to sit on so you don’t dirty your clothes. I didn’t, and my light pink skirt ended up dirty. But if you ask me, it was totally worth it.

After exploring every nook and cranny, we realized two hours had flown by. The uphill trek to the café was a bit of a hike, but it was worth it. Before arriving, we were greeted by a large woven-walled building with a watermill surrounded by a serene pond, likely a tribute to Esgaroth, the lake-town. At the end of the pond, a ship rests in port, reminiscent of the scene where the elves sail back to Valinor.

The café, housed in a Tudor-style cottage, is airy and offers plenty of seating, especially on the balcony overlooking the lush landscape. We only ordered pizza, so I can’t review the full menu, but the pizza was delicious – overflowing with toppings on a thin crust.

This might be the review some of you are looking for – the review of the toilet here!
I noticed that toilets are only available at the Yuna Café, though it’s possible we were too busy snapping photos to spot others.
The toilet here is spacious, clean, and most importantly, each stall is equipped with a hand bidet.

The three of us had a great time exploring and taking pictures. If you’re into unique spots like this or just want a relaxing day out, Hobbitoon Village is definitely worth a visit!
