Sebenarnya, bila 30 July 2026 happened, I terus list down all my takaful certificates yang related to cancer, critical illness and ICU stays.

30 July was the day Beacon called and asked me to come in for further investigation because they saw something on my mammogram.
Husband cakap I’m thinking negatively bila I dah start checking all my takaful coverage.
I said, no, I’m not thinking negatively. I’m just being pragmatic.
Bukti yang I tak expect the worst?
I’ve signed up for, or agreed to attend, quite a number of events until the end of the year.
And I genuinely wish to attend ALL of them. 😂

What I found out was this:
Kalau betul I ada cancer, the amount I could claim wouldn’t even be enough for income replacement.
About RM100K critical illness rider from a certificate I signed up for when I was young.
Another few hundred thousand from another certificate.
RM50K for cancer.
And RM300K if I’m admitted to the ICU for 5 days or more.

The rest?
Mostly just waiver of contribution.
Which means my contributions would be waived—which is important, especially for my medical card—but there would be no cash payout.
When I divided these amounts against the number of years I might need income replacement, plus whatever comfort, treatment or assistive devices I might need…
There would be a major shortfall.
I regretted not adding more critical illness coverage back then.
I should have done it.
My biopsy result showed that the lump is benign, and I was SO relieved.
But a biopsy isn’t 100% conclusive. My doctor said it has around 90% accuracy, so she recommended removing the lump so they can be certain that it isn’t cancerous.
So far, I’m happy.
I’m counting the days until the operation and looking forward to a good outcome. ❤️
And when that time comes, I definitely want to add on my critical illness protection—if AIA will still have me after all this. 😂
But there’s one thing I want to say about sharing your takaful coverage online.
It’s okay for me to share what coverage I have and how much I’m covered for.
But if you’re not an agent, PLEASE DON’T.
I’m sharing mine for awareness and marketing.
You sharing yours might also be for awareness…
BUT there will always be eyes watching and lurking, calculating.
I’m saying this based on more than 20 years in the financial industry.
The people who really need to know your financial standing and planning are:
Your spouse. Your children. And your financial planner.
Not the entire internet.
Be aware of your coverage.
Review it.
Make sure it actually protects the life you’re trying to protect.
Because sometimes, we only realise the gap when we’re forced to look at it.
