My Weight Loss Progress Has Been Stuck Lately

My weight loss journey has kind of gone stagnant lately. During the first few weeks of taking orlistat, my weight dropped quite consistently. But once I started reducing my intake of oily and fatty foods, orlistat didn’t really seem to help much anymore.

From what I understand, orlistat works by binding to fat while the food is still in our digestive system, preventing some of it from being absorbed by the body. So naturally, when I started eating less fatty food, there was less for the medication to “work on” too.

I only take orlistat when I eat oily or fatty food.

I once shared before that I have a rice allergy. Because of that, I try to only eat rice once or twice a week to avoid triggering bad allergy reactions. I still get itchy sometimes, but thankfully nothing more serious than that so far.

You’d think cutting down on rice would help me lose weight even faster, right? Wrong. Lol.

My go to is instant oatmeal from Quaker
But recently I tried this instant rolled oat from Captain, and quite like it

Instead, I ended up eating bread or oats almost every day. The problem is, those foods don’t really make me feel fully satisfied or satiated. So without realising it, I end up snacking more or eating larger portions later on. Bread and oats just don’t hit the same way rice does for me.

And I think that’s one of the reasons why my weight loss journey has become stagnant lately. Sometimes it’s not just about eating “healthier,” but also about eating foods that actually keep you full and satisfied while still watching your calorie intake.

I’ve also reduced sugary and cold drinks ever since I started going to Tung Shin for TCM treatments. Honestly, I’ve been feeling much better ever since. Less bloating, better sleep, less painful PMS, and I don’t feel as sleepy during the day anymore — although I still feel a little lethargic at times.

Let’s hope these new dietary changes will finally show some improvement in my weight loss journey.
